Criteria:
The applicant must:
- Be a member of Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church.
- Be a graduating senior from a metropolitan Atlanta high school.
- Have a 3.0 GPA or better.
- Plan to major in Computer Science/Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Enroll as a full-time student at an accredited HBCU.
- Participate in sports in school or the local community.
Essay Requirement:
The application must be submitted with a 250-word essay (typed and double-spaced) addressing the following: How has playing sports made you a better student?
Background:
This scholarship is in honor of the children of Sean and Tammie Roach; Harris, Sean J. and Shane Roach.
Harris, Sean J. and Shane Roach all grew up Georgia and graduated from Marietta High School. Each student graduated with a GPA of 3.4 or better and played community as well as school sports. The siblings were all active in school activities such as Beta Club, JROTC, just to name a few. The sports programs that they participated in included: swimming, soccer, golf, football and basketball. Being studious, participating in clubs and organizations and playing sports helped them stay focused and establish themselves as good students.
Harris, Sean J. and Shane have chosen excellent career paths in Computer Engineer, Computer Science and Business Administration to continue their path of success.
