Criteria:
The applicant must:
- Have a 2.5 GPA or less
- Be active in the community/engage in community events
- Plan to attend a 4-year institution or technical school
Essay Requirement:
The application must be submitted with a 500-word essay (typed and double-spaced) addressing the following title: “Why is nonviolence an effective tool for deescalating confrontations?”
Background:
The Norma “Diamond” Jones Wings of Love Scholarship Fund was established by her son, Kobie Jones, in December 2023 in memory of his beloved mother. Diamond graduated from Lakeside High School and attended Tuskegee University and Georgia State University. She was a Delta Air Lines flight attendant for over 31 years. Having served on Delta’s Flight Team, she was one of Delta’s top flight attendants in the USA. She was also a movie producer and an entrepreneur.
Inspired by her mother, Pat, Diamond believed in community service. She served as the NAACP DeKalb County Branch first Youth Council President where she developed many programs to serve the youth of the community
