Bobby & Carolyn Rosemond Academic Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000

Criteria:

The applicant must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Plan to major in Education
  • Enroll as a full-time student at an Historically Black College or University

Essay Requirement:

The application must be submitted with a minimum 500-word essay (typed and double spaced) addressing one of the following topics:

  • What is Your Passion and/or Drive for Your Chosen Field of Study?
  • How Have the Recent Societal Issues Affected or Changed Your Career or Life Goals?
  • What Event or Person Has Made You Want to Enter the Field of Education?
  • How Do You See a Degree in Education Making a Positive Social Change and/or Change Society?

Background:

The Bobby and Carolyn Rosemond Academic Scholarship was established in 2020 in memory of Florie Rosemond to recognize the value and need for passionate educators, acknowledge the importance of HBCUs, and emphasize that education is one of the keys to a more successful life. This scholarship aims to assist young people attending a Historically Black College or University with the cost of pursuing a degree in Education.
