Criteria:
The applicant must:
- Have been a member of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church for at least 2 years prior to application deadline date (No Exceptions) Membership number must be provided
- Be involved in activities and/or ministries at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church
- Have a 2.5 GPA or higher (official transcript required)
- Plan to participate in a collegiate sports program at an accredited 4-year college institution
Essay Requirement:
The application must be submitted with a minimum 500-spaced essay (typed and double spaced) addressing the following question: “What Do You Consider to Be the Single Most Important Societal Problem? Why?”
Background:
The Alex Ayers Student Athlete Scholarship was established in 2018 in memory of Alexandria (Alex) Ayers, a dedicated member of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church, outstanding athlete, and honor student. As a former Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship recipient, Alex was always able to balance academics, sports, and her spiritual life, which enabled her to be an excellent role model for young people everywhere.
