Award Amount: $1,500
Criteria:
- Graduating high school senior
- Have a 2.5 GPA or higher (official transcript required)
- Plan to participate in a collegiate sport.
- Enroll as a full-time student at an accredited 4-year College/University
- Active member of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church for at least 1 year before the application deadline date (No Exceptions) (Membership number must be provided)
- Be involved in activities and/or ministries at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church
Essay Requirement:
The application must be submitted with a minimum 300-spaced essay (typed and double-spaced) addressing the following question: How have sports helped you to develop essential life skills like leadership, time management, and working with others?
Background:
The Alex Ayers Student Athlete Scholarship was established in 2018 in memory of Alexandria (Alex) Ayers, a dedicated member of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church, outstanding athlete, and honor student. As a former Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship recipient, Alex was always able to balance academics, sports, and her spiritual life, which enabled her to be an excellent role model for young people everywhere.
