Background:
The Adra A. Wilson Servant-Leader Scholarship was established in December 2020 during the Memorial Services for Deaconess Adra Jamee Anderson Wilson. Adra was married to Deacon Eric Wilson and the mother of four children: Bryce, Rayah, Raven, and Reece. Adra was a member of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess alongside her husband, Deacon Eric D. Wilson. Adra believed in the bible scripture, Proverbs 22:6 which instructs us to “train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” She also encouraged her children to love and be active in the church. As a member of the Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship Commission, Adra was instrumental in assisting the organization in receiving its 501©3 status. Most of Adra’s career involved work in Human Resources. She was skilled in communication, adept in Deaf Sign Language, and had a strong desire to help others find their life’s work. To that end, this scholarship has been established to help young people achieve a degree of higher education.
