Award Amount: $2,500
Criteria:
- Graduating high school senior
- GPA 2.5 or higher.
- Active member of Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church (Membership number must be provided)
- Have a history of measurable commitment to community service and outreach through ministries at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church
- Enroll as a full-time student at an accredited 4-year College/University
Essay Requirement:
The application must be submitted with a 500-word essay (typed and double spaced) addressing the following title: “The Importance of Serving in Ministries and Providing Community Outreach”.
Background:
The Julius and Sandra Lawton Servant’s Scholarship was established in December 2023 by members Julius and Sandra Lawton. The Lawtons have served within several organizations at The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church including the Chair of Deacon Board, the Viola Wiley Ensemble, the Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship Commission, the Tribal Ministries and more. They are the proud parents of two daughters who were awarded scholarships from the Frank Jones Memorial Scholarship Commission of The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church.
